The Projects You Long For Always Find A Way Of Landing Right In Your Lap.

At the start of 2025, I made a decision to step into a new chapter, diving into the three-dimensional space. I wanted to move beyond flat surfaces and explore perspective, depth, and form in a way that felt alive. The process was exciting, but also humbling. I was learning new tools, new techniques, and at times, I honestly felt like a beginner again.

Once I completed a few 3D studies, I shared them with an art connector here in Charlotte. I wasn’t pitching anything specific, I just wanted to put the work on their radar in case an opportunity came up. A few days later, she reached out and told me about a new residential project called Kinship, located in Camp North End, a creative hub that’s been transforming into one of Charlotte’s most vibrant communities.

When I met with the team, they had a special request: they wanted me to incorporate reclaimed wood from their warehouse, material that had been part of the site’s original history when it was abandoned years ago. As I walked through the space, I found this old wooden pallet, worn and full of character. I knew immediately that was the one. It had soul.

The client wanted subtle references to the Blue Ridge Mountains, so I designed a piece that merged natural rhythm with my signature modern aesthetic, smooth flowing layers of color and shape, guided by warmth and balance. I titled it “Whispers of Blue Ridge.”

What made this project special was the challenge. I had only two weeks to bring it to life. It pushed me to think not just as an artist, but as a builder and engineer. Between the reclaimed wood, the layered plywood, and the structure’s weight, I had to figure out how to make it stable and secure. After some research, I decided to divide the artwork into three sections for better balance and mounted it with a custom cleat system for durability.

When it was finally installed, seeing it on the wall, built from reclaimed history, painted with fresh energy was surreal. It reminded me that growth happens when you say yes to what scares you, and that manifestation is real when your intention aligns with your effort.
