Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Junior Gomez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Junior , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Resilience has always been a core part of who I am, shaped largely by my upbringing in New York City. They say you should live in New York once, but leave before it makes you too hard. I think there’s a lot of truth to that—resilience is in my blood. Growing up in such a fast-paced, often unforgiving environment taught me how to push through tough times. I’ve faced my share of challenges, some that made me question my path and wonder if it was the end of the road for me.

I’ve never spoken publicly about my story before, but I feel this is a good moment to share. After college, I moved back to New York, and it was one of the loneliest times in my life. In that isolation, I ended up making some poor choices, including getting involved with drugs through some peers. A few years later, I found myself in the back of a police car, arrested for possession. That was my rock bottom, the moment I realized I needed to make a change.
In that dark moment, I turned to prayer and made a promise to God: if I could get through this, I would become the best version of myself. Thankfully, my lawyers helped reduce my charges, and I seized the opportunity to turn my life around. What felt like the worst day of my life then, I now see as the best—it was the catalyst for my transformation.
Resilience, to me, is about turning obstacles into opportunities for growth. No matter what challenges we face, they shape us into who we are meant to be. I’ve learned to embrace every trial as a lesson, and that’s where my resilience comes from.
